Morgan Schneiderlin signed for Everton in January 2017 to link up with manager Ronald Koeman for the second time in his career.
The France international midfielder, capped 15 times, arrived from Manchester United on a four-and-a-half-year contract for a fee of £20million, rising to £24million. Schneiderlin moved to Goodison Park as a FA Cup winner, having been part of the squad which triumphed at Wembley in May 2016.
The 2015/16 campaign was his only full season at Old Trafford, where he made 39 appearances in all competitions. He scored once for Manchester United, coincidentally against Everton at Goodison in October 2016.
Schneiderlin first landed in England back in June 2008, his eye for a pass and ball-winning qualities spotted by Southampton who prised his talents away from his first professional club, Strasbourg. Aged 18 at the time, he had only played a handful of games for the French side but his potential already shone through and he was on his way to the south coast for a seven-figure fee.
Schneiderlin’s first season with Southampton ended in disappointment as the Saints were relegated to League One. But over the next six years, he was instrumental in their climb back to the upper echelons of English football.
He played in 42 of Southampton’s 46 league matches in 2011/12 – a season which culminated in back-to-back promotions as, under the guidance of Nigel Adkins, the club regained their place in the Premier League.
